Size and status of budget

It is useful to find out how much money your organisation is planning to spend on your programme. Are they thinking of €10,000, €100,000 or €1,000,000? This may also change, so you need to check with head office from time to time. Case study

Your organisation may have a few rough calculations or they may already have a detailed budget which has been agreed with donors.

Budgets go through various stages of preparation and approval. When you are writing them, show the version and the date you prepared it, e.g. “Version 1: 3 October 2011”. The status of donor funds should also be clearly shown in the budget income section as ‘Approved (plus date)’ or ‘Still to be approved’.
