Signing cheques

You should make physical checks:

Do not sign blank cheques. These are the equivalent of cash.

If you must sign a cheque with the amount left blank, add a note on the back (an endorsement) setting a maximum amount that the cheque can be made for. (You will first need to check that the bank accepts and honours endorsements).

Set up a routine to ensure that large cheques are available for signing at a set time each week, perhaps after the weekly meeting. Ensure that signatories are aware of the routine and hold them responsible for being available, or arranging an alternate signatory.
