Restrictions and requirements
Donors also have their own restrictions and requirements.
Restrictions
- Time limit for expenditure - e.g. within six months.
- Budget items - e.g. no vehicle purchase allowed.
- Procurement - e.g. all imported equipment must come from the donor's country.
- Contributions from others - e.g. will not fund more than a certain percentage of the total budget and/or expect a contribution from the organisation itself.
Requirements
These may range from flexible guidelines to rigid rules, relating to:
- Proposal formats.
- Financial procedures.
- Reporting and audit.
These requirements may cause organisations considerable work if their systems and ways of working are very different from those of the donor.
